Daisuke Hanamura is a half-Japanese, half-Chinese man living in downtown Neo-Seoul. He is 54 years old with well-kept hair and runs a small self-owned Hive Shop located within a Hive. He has a very good relationship with many of the families living in The Hives, and loves spending time with and talking to them. He’s especially good around the children and occasional pet. Sometimes if he likes you enough, he can talk to you for over half an hour while you’re doing some shopping.
Daisuke is a very respectable man. When he was younger, he volunteered at a charity organization in Japan to help raise money for impoverished neighborhoods. As he grew older, he fell in love with a Korean woman and left Japan to live in her hometown of Neo-Seoul. Unfortunately, she passed away a few years after the move, and Daisuke had been unable to find a well-paying job on his own due to some slight racial bias in their neighborhood. Thus, he had no way to return to Japan.
Instead of letting despair overcome him, Daisuke set out to do good in his new home. When The Hives were built to replace the low-class apartment complexes, he knew that would be the best place to make a difference. He was one of the first people to open up a Hive Shop, setting it up inside The Hive closest to his deceased lover’s childhood home to reach as many people who needed it as possible. Over the years, Daisuke has become an integral part of that Hive’s community, and the Hive children call him “Ojii-san”, which puts a smile on his face every day.
